9) Our “Golden” Center Fielder
Mets fans knew young center fielder Juan Lagares was a stud with the glove going into last season, but the entire baseball world found out for themselves. Lagares had a tremendous season, making amazing play after amazing play. He was second in baseball with a defensive WAR (wins above replacement) of 3.37. He has totaled 20 assists in two seasons in the bigs in which he has only averaged 110 games played a season.
Lagares will be crucial to the Mets this season in center. The 25 year old became even more vital with the signing of Michael Cuddyer, who does have the best range. The pitching staff will need Juan to cover a lot of ground in center, and look for him to win a Gold Glove once again in 2015.
