6) American League East
The American League East used to be the best division in the game, however there is no longer a true dominant team like there once was. The Red Sox appear to be the favorite heading into the season with all of their offseason moves, signing Sandoval, Moncada, and Hanley, and trading for a couple of pitchers. The Blue Jays made a few moves to really bolster their offense, but will the team ever put it together and stay healthy? The Orioles were the champions of this division a year ago, but the team lost Andrew Miller, Nelson Cruz, and Nick Markakis. The Yankees are a team that is so boom or bust. If they stay healthy and guys like CC and Teixeira bounce back, they could contend. However, they lack pitching and I’m not expecting these veterans to return to form. The worst team in the division is Tampa Bay, who lost it’s long-time manager and made no big offseason moves.
This is a division with too many question marks. Any of the teams could really come out of the pick, but any of them could be the bottom-feeders. I look for the Red Sox to come out as champions of the division this season.
